Wow, that’s imaginative. It’s a way of coping with oppression that I’ve not seen represented. I’m not sure how I feel about the ending, and what he’s accomplished; while I’m personally grateful for the ‘privacy’ he’s found, it’s seems as though it really hasn’t changed anything, that there’s nothing else to be done. Indeed, the quote he gives is a mixed bag. He no longer looks into his oppressor’s eyes. Is he closer to freedom? And who will see his writing, I wonder?
